Dion Coleman

Case Summary

Dion Coleman was convicted in 1992 of the murder of an Old Dominion University student, John Torpey. There was no physical evidence tying Dion to the crime, he a number of alibi witnesses and the only person who testified against him, also testified at a previous trial that, that defendant was the shooter.

Dion spent more than 27 years in prison before being paroled on May 20, 2020. While we are thankful Dion is free, this is not justice. Dion continues to be a convicted murderer and lives under the constraints of parole.

We are working hard on his case to see him exonerated. If you would like to help Dion re-build his life please consider donating to his GoFundMe account. Thank you!
